A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
I have just been listening to a programme on Radio 4 Extra which is being repeated because one of the men in it, Alan Coren, has died recently. He was a great broadcaster.
The programme is called The Sage of Cricklewood and together with his friend, Christopher Matthew, they go on a trip across North London with their Freedom bus passes. The conversation is sparkling as they pass through Camden Town, Wood Green, in an effort to get to Palmers Green and on to Enfield. They discuss the various buildings as they pass them (including the old Wood Green cinema) remember them when youngsters, stop off at the pub and chat with people on the way. And they try to buy a tortoise in a local pet shop.
This is a really entertaining programme with two witty raconteurs, some very funny anecdotes too - interesting because they pass through our area of London, chatting to passengers and creating a good deal of laughter too.
It's on for the next 7 days and you can find it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03xzy4b
On the programme link move the curser along to 02:29.19 because it is a 3 hour programme and the one about North London is at the end. :)
