Does anyone else suffer this problem? I live in Woodside Ward the other side of the High Road but we have similar speed humps to those in Bowes Park.  Whilst I am wholly in favour of speed…Continue

Children's wardrobe anyone?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Michael Cordwell James Apr 2, 2012. 7 Replies

I live in Maryland so could help you carry this if you wanted a children's wardrobe.  Originally 1940s I should think but painted an attractive pastel green with appropriate Harry Potter et al…Continue

As I'm sure many of you are aware, this red brick building from 1906 has been vacant some time.  The initial plans for demolition and a 40 cell holding centre were thrown out by Haringey and by…Continue

Hello, my name is Storm and I am a blue male (I think) budgie about 9 years old.  I have been a widower on my own for some time now and miss the company of other birds.  I am now ready to seek a new…Continue

HGVs shaking the house!

Does anyone else suffer this problem? I live in Woodside Ward the other side of the High Road but we have similar speed humps to those in Bowes Park.  Whilst I am wholly in favour of speed restrictors like these, it is our experience that larger vehicles (eg skip lorries) can and do drive with impunity at a greater speed than the permitted 20mph. This results in a bone shaking thump felt right through the fabric of our 1902 terrace home. Since this is a residential road this is fortunately an…See More

Michael Cordwell James replied to Lindsey Clarke's discussion Is Haringey Civic Centre ugly?
"This is the source from where I understood the Civic Centre to be a 30s design. It's the Victoria County History online: At Wood Green the local board and the U.D.C. began with 12 members. (fn. 56) In 1910 membership was raised to 18 and the…"

Michael Cordwell James replied to Lindsey Clarke's discussion Is Haringey Civic Centre ugly?
"I think I remember reading it was designed in the 30s but not built till the 50s, in which case I guess it's possible they added a cold war bunker at the time of building. "

Michael Cordwell James replied to Lindsey Clarke's discussion Is Haringey Civic Centre ugly?

Hi Michael. -- I tried to send you a personal message but you have to accept a connection request first. Yes if it's still on offer we would like it and will pick it up. Thank you.  My partner will try to get in touch now and collect it soon, at your convenience. Thanks again. Zaza

Hi Michael -

Of course you are welcome to join us on Wednesday for the book club. We're reading Brooklyn by Colm Toibin.

It starts at 7:30 pm.

Hello Michael - welcome to the prototype site... plans are afoot to develop a fully formed version for later in the autumn.

I did briefly mention the Woodside Park Jazz picnic in a short forum piece - as the site develops there will be many more opportunities to promote and report on other activities.

Looking Forward to Sunday - hope the weather holds!
Richard
