Finsbury Gardens now Open

After many months Finsbury Gardens is now open.  The new grass is not quite established so still needs to be fenced off and this means the new picnic table cannot be used.  But all this lovely rain is good for new grass so hopefully it will not be long before this area will be open too.  The two flower beds will be planted up shortly and we are currently taking advice as to planting this area so it looks beautiful but does not make too much extra work. There is a long list of people whom the…See More

Finsbury Diggers (Friends of Finsbury Gardens) at Finsbury Gardens

June 16, 2012 from 2pm to 4pm
Haringey Parks Department, who have worked so hard with us to improve the Gardens, are suffering from extreme cutbacks to their budget.  This only allows them to cut the grass 12 times a year and trim the shrubs once.  This leaves all the weeding planting and general maintenance of the gardens and the beds at both ends to volunteers. Finsbury Diggers usually meet on the Second Sunday of the month but our June working afternoon is being postponed to 16th for this month as so many people are on…See More

The redesign of Finsbury Gardens continues apace and on Friday an area was turfed.  The problem is it needs watering.  Twice a day until it is established - or it rains. Two of us watered this morning and will do it again this evening but it is really hard work carrying the water.  Please, please, please could we have some offers of help.  Otherwise the grass will die and the public will not be able to use the Gardens for a much longer time. This evening we propose to water about 7 oclock.  If…See More

Ohh arr... We seem to be communicating by alien medium... yet to get to grips with what's going on here... and who can see what.
Have sort of been in hiding lately so don't know much about stuff... Did we set the Carols for Sun 18th? Was a bad boy and missed the AGM... Caroline's pushing for another funding attempt... probably a good idea. Hope you enjoy your last few days of puddles and free dog. xxx J
