"Hi everyone I've tracked down the quiz night in support of the above. It's at the Springfield next to Tesco's on Bounds Green Road, on Monday 27th at 7pm. It would be great if we could raise some more money for them that way. "

"Good news for the Tabernacle and the Samaritans. It occupies a prominent site by the station so for many it will be one of the first things they see of our area. I hope the redevelopment will be a big improvement."

I've had this since I first renovated my house and it still looks as good as new. But – I think the transformer is not functioning properly (perhaps due to operating it from a dimmer). The result is that it sometimes flickers or even goes off. But you're welcome to take it if you think you could use it or fix it. It has 15 little bulbs and is very glittery and glamorous. I think it's about 50cm across but can measure it if that's critical to you. …See More

latest on tin tabernacle squatters

I've just had an email back from Alison Scoltock, the chair of the Samaritans. Apparently the squatters do NOT have the Samaritans' permission to stay in Shaftesbury Hall, and the Samaritans are starting eviction proceedings. Clearly she feels very disheartened by the constant intrusion into the property – these squatters aren't the first – and says that maybe the best option is to dismantle the existing structure and start again. Total pain for them, and they are such a worthwhile charity,…See More

squatters at Shaftesbury Hall

More encounters with squatters!I was passing the hall this morning at about 9 and saw a young man with several suitcases outside. The door to the building was open and he was clearly going to go inside. I asked him if he had permission to stay there. He said, "Yes, yes, it's cool, it's called squatting and it's legal, and you don't like it, go to the high court." Nice attitude. I pointed out that the building was a community resource and he said "Yeah, yeah, it's belongs to a charity, I know,"…See More

Hi Diana

Thank you for offering to join the herb-tending brigade if the scheme goes ahead at Bowes Park Station.

I don't know about the area around the tube, have you asked Haringey what plans if any they have to beautify it?
