Talkies Community Cinema: SIGHTSEERS at Bounds Green Bowls & Tennis Club

January 13, 2017 from 7:30pm to 10:30pm
A British road-movie with a difference – Sightseers is a savagely funny jet-black comedy about a couple of young caravan-lovers (Steve Oram & Alice Lowe), whose journey darkens as they create murderous mayhem at unusual tourist spots and eccentric museums around the English countryside. Hot director Ben Wheatley (Highrise) won The Standard Best British Film for Sightseers. Not for the faint hearted! We are proud to announce that actor/co-writer Steve Oram has produced a specially recorded…See More

HERE FILM FESTIVAL is about the diversity of interests, people and places in the suburbs of London. HERE is not in the West End, Southbank or Shoreditch. HERE in the suburbs we aren't the swanky super-rich, the celebrity glitterati or bearded hipsters.  HERE is where the cinema creatives of London produce…

This year, 2015 marks the centenary of one the best known illustrators you have probably never heard of… Yet anyone growing up in the 50s, 60s or 70s is likely to recognise the images of Robert Norton Ayton even if you do not know his name.

Spouters Corner - A local tradition of political free speech.

Very different from earlier days when politics relied much more on face-to-face discussions, public meetings and rallies; campaigning “on the stump”.…

Thank you for the message, Richard. I moved to Wolves Lane in 2004 and I like Middleton Road. I accidentally walked into a street event there where I experienced great community spirit.

I'm afraid I told a small lie when I registered for the forum. I listed my address as Arundel Gardens in N21. In fact that was my last address back in 1969, after that I stayed at Truro road. I was a regular at Fishmongers Arms and Springfield Park Tavern. I now live in a village called Crowhurst, near Battle in East Sussex. I still have strong memories of the area having worked at Express Motors and a spell as Road Sweeper.
