Bowes and Bounds Connected

A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green

...they were my neighbours ... I was willing to help

Bridie Dyllon, originally from Ireland, moved to the Bowes Park area in 1957. She brought up her three sons on Whittington Road and two of them still live with her in the family home.

Bridie spent much of her working life in the local area, particularly on Myddleton Road where she worked in a laundrette and as a cleaner in the dentists. She also worked in the fur shop that used to be on Whittington Road and did all of her shopping on Myddleton Road.

She also used to help elderly people in the area by helping them to bed in the evenings and get dressed in the mornings as she felt that’s what she should have done as a younger person.
