I would be up for the community bakery stall.  I currenly setting up a home based cake business.  I have my food hygiene cert, and I'm registered with Haringey Council.  To sell food on market stalls you need these and probably public liability insurance

Hi Jeannine - yes I think the more people doing the survey for now the better! When Haringey are ready if we can wow them with public support I think that would go a long way. Great ideas too. I'm glad we have this forum to brainstorm and record ideas.

Glad the cake sale went well Kari! I think you're right - streetfood, bread, cakes, plants - a sustainable theme - would all work really well.

I'll keep everyone posted on news from this end.

In the meantime - maybe we should recruit this fish guy from Upton Park. Lol!

It's brilliant that this initiative has come so far.

Today I heard about an event happening on May 25th which might help with the next stages.

High Street Camp is a free one day event sharing learning between people who have experience of regenerating neighbourhoods.

The organisers say:

Do you want to put life back into your high street or town centre?

 

Are you part of a Town Team, have you bid to become one of the Portas Pilots, or are you just someone who wants to get on and improve the centre of your community? If so, then High Street Camp is for you!

 

High Street Camp (#highstcamp on Twitter) is an unconference - a chance for people who want to get things done to get together, hear from people who've already had a go, share experiences and come up with new ideas.

 

It's a participative event, not a series of lectures or presentations - a chance to roll your sleeves up and work with other people who share your concerns and interests.

Hello, I'm new to the area - and to the forum - and love the idea of a weekend market on Myddleton Rd. Reading through the discussion thread it feels like there's a real groundswell building around re-energising the area, of which a regular market along Myddleton Rd would help develop further.

Earlier in the thread, the Portas Review into the future of UK high streets is mentioned. In today's Observer magazine, one of the features takes its cue from Portas' recommendations asking six 'big thinkers' for their ideas about how to breathe new life into the high street. Not all of them are relevant for Myddleton Rd - but it makes for interesting reading and I thought one or two of the ideas in there might provide inspiration for others: Can anyone save our high streets? www.guardian.co.uk/society/2012/apr/28/high-streets

thanks Victoria, just proves what an important, timely topic regeneration is, and though Myddleton Road is not a town high street it could certainly benefit from fresh ideas!

Hi Guys...hope plans are going well for the Sunday Market. Thought you would like to know we have a Vintage Market in the garden at The Step today as part of AP and Beyond between 11-4. Not linked to the plans on here but hopefully a good little tester for future plans. We also have a yummy locally made cakes stall with ice cream tubs and juices too! Be lovely to see you all.
