A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
I am a retired full-time experienced professional dance teacher, and I now teach solely in return for charity donations. I can provide a one-off entertainment group lesson in Rumba/Samba/ChaCha/Mambo, etc. for your special occasion/evening; or even regular classes for groups. My classes are tailored for solo dancing (partners not required), and are suitable for all ages.
My purpose is to raise money for The Ruth Winston Centre, the local registered Charity in Green Lanes for the Over 50s of Enfield, where I have been the regular Latin Dance tutor for the past six years. ALL money I raise goes to this worthwhile charity. I would be happy to talk to you about running an enjoyable session for you at a local venue.

Best wishes, Derek D.
Permalink Reply by Kay Cushnie on May 2, 2012 at 17:17 What times would you be available after school to run a class? How much would it cost per session or for a group of sessions?
I will ask them the staff and get back to you with numbers. I think we'd need a fair amount for it to be worthwhile. Our school is in Enfield by the way.
Permalink Reply by Kay Cushnie on May 2, 2012 at 17:18 Just reread your post. Perhaps we could start with the one off session and take it from there. Again I will ask staff if they're interested.

Permalink Reply by derek DIGHTMAKER on May 3, 2012 at 14:49 Yes, we should start with just one session: for the staff to see what it's like ( I promise you it's fun and enjoyable!); and for me to see how the travelling would be. I do not drive and live close to Arnos Grove tube, and have to use public transport. So Enfield might be a bit awkward for me. What is the name of the school? I can work out bus routes, and let you know if OK.
I am presently free on Mondays and Fridays, and prefer early rather than late. How early could it be? We can talk costs later if all else is favourable to us all. Best not to mention to your colleagues yet until we've explored these things further. Incidentally, I have four teachers in my Thursday Advanced class at Ruth Winston Centre. Best wishes, Derek Dightmaker.

As I haven't heard from you yet, I thought I'd offer you my tel. no. so we could converse more easily. If there is still interest in a trial Latin Dance class please phone me on 020 8292 2551. Please let me know one way or the other so I can allocate my time. Hope to hear from you. Best wishes, Derek Dightmaker, ADTA (Retd.).

Thank you for your letter and the kind comments. It really was a a reward in itself to seel your ladies enjoying themselves (and Freddie also!)
Yes, of course we can do it again - just give me a ring when you have a a couple of dates free in your club calandar. Best wishes, Derek D.

Thanks for your card. Yes, Fri. 31st will be fine. No, eight would not be too many for the space available. Yes, I bring my own music and player. Your friends need to bring only their sense of humour. Ordinary day shoes are fine - preferably not rubber soles, as we'll be dancing on carpeted floor. All I need is a working electric point and a small table or even a chair. I look forward to seeing you all at 4pm.

Sorry I can't manage the date you wanted as I teach a class at the Ruth Winston Centre on that day. If you'd like to phone me perhaps we could find another date. Best wishes,
Derek D.

Thank you, thank you! Of course - I'd be delighted. Yes: Salsa, Mambo, Merengue: can do.
Tango? No, not really, because you do need a partner for that dance. Ditto Foxtrot, Waltz, Quickstep, Viennese W.
I stick to teaching dances and step patterns within those dances where a partner really isn't necessary.
See you on the 9th. Best wishes,
Derek D.

Thank you for the generous donation which I have passed to the Ruth Winston Centre. I enjoyed meeting you all and I thank you for organising it. Your group were really keen, and yes, I would be delighted to "do it all over again"! You have my number, so I'll wait to hear from you. My best wishes to you and your group, Derek D.
