Thanks for the useful tip Daniel - now that so much material can be recycled our household is not generating much stuff to go to landfill - or incineration - in general waste.

Sorry, I was actually referring to the blue and green bins. In Enfield the black (general waste) bin is already of the small size.

Haringey will also supply a smaller black wheelie bin on request.  I asked for one; after several emails they insisted on sending an operative on a site visit (apparently to make sure I have enough space for a smaller bin than the one I already have??), and I am told that a requisition has now been raised - at what cost in man hours I wonder!!
