A Community Network for Bowes Park and Bounds Green
Following the Supreme Court ruling last January - in which passengers (including those with buggies) may be required by the bus driver to give priority to wheelchair users for designated spaces on buses - I'm writing to let you know that we are hosting a number of Accessibility Driver Forums about this over the next two months.
These forums are intended to give drivers a closer understanding of
various passenger issues, and will have a focus on the revised guidance to better assist wheelchair users wishing to board buses.
We are looking for wheelchair and mobility scooter users to attend for a couple of hours on the days, so that bus drivers and garage managers have an opportunity to better understand the most common issues first hand and to speak with people with different impairments. All our older and disabled customers and stakeholders are welcome to join one or multiple events, although we will have to limit numbers to no more than two people at a time so we have a good spread of people across the day.
We aim to have further events in 2018 so there will be other
opportunities in other parts of London.
The forums will be held between 10am and 4pm on the following dates and location
Thursday, at 16 November, at Enfield Garage (Arriva);
Wednesday, 29 November, at Tottenham Garage (Arriva);
Tuesday, 14 December, at Palmers Green Garage (Arriva).
Please let your members know about these forums. If they are interested in participating, they should email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will allocate places on a first-
come basis. If you would like any further information please let me
